Why the switch to home compostable coffee capsules?
While our capsules have always been 100% Certified compostable and biodegradable, customers previously had to join a composting program and send all empty capsules for them to be commercially composted.
We knew there had to be a better and easier way.
So we began our research, which soon moved into development, and today we’re incredibly proud to bring you our home compostable coffee capsules. Made from plant-based materials, they are completely biodegradable and leave no harmful residue behind.
Here’s what else we love. These capsules:
- Have a high barrier to oxygen, which protects flavours and aromas
- Are 100% bio-based (no use of fossil fuels)
- Disintegrate within 26 weeks in garden compost
For you, it’s as simple as adding your empty coffee capsules to your compost heap. Easy, eco-friendly and sustainable!
Introducing Billy-Bob in capsule format
Since we launched 18 months ago, we’ve had many customers telling us they’d love the convenience of enjoying their favourite Billy-Bob brew in their capsule machine.
And we thought, why not?
So, as we were sourcing new plant-based materials for our capsules, we also started testing Billy-Bob in this format. Needless to say, we were instantly very impressed!
This smooth Arabica/Robusta blend is characterised beautifully in capsule form. From the silky, rich and smoky aroma to the chocolate and tobacco flavours with notes of grain, this is a whole new way to enjoy Billy-Bob. It also has all the perks of being super-convenient, while there is no compromise on flavour.
Will Blend 01, Blend 02 and Blend 03 still be available as capsules?
Since launching, we’ve been testing our three capsule blends and the feedback has been that you prefer a stronger coffee. Taking this on board, we’ve decided to refine our range and move forward only with the Billy-Bob capsule.
This, unfortunately, means we’ll be phasing out our other capsule blends. However, with Billy-Bob being one of our most popular profiles, we’re sure you’ll fall in love with this delicious brew.
We do intend on expanding our range in the near future, however as a small business, we need to do this consciously and in phases – to ensure we grow in a sustainable way.
